MAD DOG Composite C-1 pedestal seat installation photos

Installing the first Mad Dog C-1 composite pedestal seat in a Vajda "Lizard 365 L" C-1
Drain holes were cut in sides, top and bottom for ease in draining water from the hollow composite seat.  The back of seat was notched to lock into the stern upright.  The bottom edge was slightly curved to fit the natural hull curvature of the Lizard C-1.  Then the seat was glassed to the hull using kevlar seam tape.  Gray foam was added in the right photo for forward body positioning and 1/4" white foam covers it for seat padding.  By leaning on this seat, in combination with the composite hip-blocks, you get precise boat control, much like a thwart, but with the safety of a pedestal.  Because the seat is solid and fixed to the hull, it makes the boat very sensitive to the most subtle lean changes.
