Hip-Block Installation Instructions - Part II "Kevlar reinforcement"
back to Part I
8.  You may have a small gap under the flange and the underside of deck, where the flange overhangs like this.

9.  Mix a small batch of micro-balloon/resin mixture, to a thick "peanut butter like" consistency, and fill in any gaps. This will insure that your kevlar reinforcement will lay flush across this area.

10.   Now wet out the boat and inside of hip-block with resin, and add a first layer of resin saturated reinforcement of carbon (or kevlar).

11.  Now put a second layer of kevlar (or other material) as shown here.

12.  Cover with a piece of peel-ply. (this will be peeled off after drying, leaving a smooth finish)
13.  Once this is cured, you just need to do a little sanding to the micro-balloons work you did in Part I.

14.  Now just glue on minicell foam, and grind down for a custom fit.
